Welcome from the Head of Lower School
As the lower school head for the academic year 2015-2016 and future school years, I look forward to meeting you all throughout the year. I know with the great team we have in the Lower School and the standards we have set during the past years we will continue on our success.
Your child is beginning an exciting educational journey that sets the foundation for learning for years to come. Experts tell us that 90% of all brain development occurs by the age of five, which emphasizes the importance of these early years.
As a parent myself, I know our deepest wish is for our children to be self sufficient, happy and able to live a full life. Our program sets the foundation for just that. Our goal is to teach the whole child, as evidenced by the five domains with which we focus:
Physical Well-Being
Social and Emotional Development
Approaches Toward Learning
Cognition and General Knowledge
Language, Literacy and Community
It is through these domains that we believe we can help develop each child to the fullest, preparing them for the challenges that lie ahead.
It is important for all our students to feel happy, confident, secure and cared for. We are committed to ensure that learning takes place through practical, first-hand experiences.
Good learning habits, problem solving and critical thinking skills are introduced at an early age. Our children are also guided on the importance of social skills, focusing on behaviour, tolerance and empathy.
We have a strong close knit school community and we welcome communication between parents and teachers on all matters regarding the welfare and development of our students.
With my best wishes for a successful school year.
