Notes to Parents

In spite of all the training and route rehearsal our bus drivers go through before the beginning of the school year, there is bound to be some delays and even some mistakes in the first few days of the school year. This does not normally last for long as the bus drivers get to know the routes well, learn some short cuts and establish the correct timing. We kindly request you to be patient and understanding during those initial days until a routine is established. By the third school week at the most, our bus service usually runs like clockwork!

Transportation Policy

As we are dealing with a fairly large number of children, the only way to ensure a smooth operation of the transportation service is to adhere to a strict routine that leaves no room for mistakes. Towards this end, we wish to advise you of the following points concerning our transportation policy:

  • Bus drivers are under strict orders not to change routes. They have a list of names and addresses that they follow in a particular order and they cannot change the order of that list.
  • The school will endeavor to meet parents’ requests for temporary changes of transportation arrangement whenever possible. As a rule, a child may not use two different buses, (i.e. come to school in one bus and go home in another).
  • If your child is using a school bus and you wish to collect him/her after school, the ONLY way to do that is by WRITING a note to the school. You may not rely on informing the driver, the bus monitor or the child. We will only act on written requests from parents. We are very concerned about the safety of our children and we cannot rely on verbal instructions or on people remembering what had been requested. Relying on people’s memory will invite mistakes.
  • If you are making your own transportation arrangements, please remember that children not using the school buses MUST be picked up from school no later than 14:45. Supervision at the school grounds stops at 14:45

Parent Obligation to the school

Students riding the school bus are expected to behave appropriately as they would in School.  Parents should always remind thier children to be courteous to the bus monitor and driver and follow their instructions. Please take the time to discuss and explain the following bus rules to your child, in order to ensure a safe journey to and from school.

  • Always be on time.
  • Always wear the seat belt and adjust it properly.
  • Remain seated when the bus is moving.
  • Keep windows closed; all our school buses are airconditioned.
  • Be considerate towards other students.
  • Respect the property of others.
  • Do not vandalise any equipment or the interior of the bus.

MP3 players and I-pods are allowed on the bus but music should not disturb other students. Please also remember that all valuables are the student's responsibility.
